SLU-PP-332 is a synthetic small-molecule pan-agonist of estrogen-related receptors ERRα, ERRβ and ERRγ, with its strongest activity reported at ERRα. These nuclear receptors regulate genes involved in mitochondrial function, oxidative metabolism and skeletal-muscle adaptation to aerobic exercise.
In laboratory research, SLU-PP-332 increased mitochondrial respiration and promoted a more oxidative skeletal-muscle phenotype.

Animal studies have examined SLU-PP-332 as an experimental exercise-mimetic compound. In mice, ERR activation increased oxidative type IIa muscle fibers and improved exercise endurance. Separate obesity and metabolic-syndrome studies reported increased energy expenditure and fatty-acid oxidation, together with reduced fat accumulation and improved insulin sensitivity.
SLU-PP-332 has also been investigated beyond skeletal muscle. In aged mice, ERR activation was associated with improved mitochondrial function and reductions in inflammatory signaling within the kidney, while experimental heart-failure models found improvements in cardiac mitochondrial metabolism and cardiac function. These findings remain preclinical, and controlled human evidence establishing efficacy or safety is currently lacking.
